The YWCA of Palestine Organizes a Training-of-Trainers Workshop around Child Custody
The YWCA of Palestine, in partnership with the Palestinian NGOs Forum to Combat Violence against Women (Al Muntada) and the Psycho-Social Counselling Center for Women, organized a training-of-trainers workshop in the north and south of the West Bank around custody as part of the "Custody is My Right" campaign. The workshop aimed to provide the participants with the skills and knowledge needed to be able to conduct awareness sessions within the campaign. 23 young women and men attended the workshop, who wish to contribute to amending and changing the laws in force in Palestine to ensure gender equality. They touched on different topics related to women’s rights including gender-based violence, the laws that support women's rights, and human rights conventions. They also focused on the Personal Status Law and the importance of working towards changing the section related to custody to ensure that women and men have equal custody rights and that the child's best interest is taken into account.
